Thank you for contacting me and for sending me information about Disability Medway Network CIC. As someone with family members living with disabilities, I am a strong advocate for organisations that provide additional support to those who need it. Additionally, my work outside of politics includes supporting small community-based charities who provide vital support. 

I have looked at your website with interest. I noticed your blog post about Matt Hancock’s work on dyslexia – I have worked with Matt on his initiative which I think is much needed

Properly funded social care and better condition for workers are at theheart of my beliefs. For too long the Tories have targeted the most vulnerable in our society with malicious funding cuts. Keir Starmer hasthus far failed to commit to the spending that will be required to reverse 14 years of austerity. I believe we need independent voices onthe Left in parliament to hold Labour accountable. This is why I havedecided to stand as a candidate.

I will be very happy to support the pledges of the Good Lives Manifesto.

I asked Kate about the Learning Disabilities Good Lives manifesto. Here is what she said:

I am very proud to be a member of your group and having physical disabilities myself I understand and empathise with all of the communities members. Through my work I am trying to provide more community sessions for those with a whole host of disabilities including those with learning disabilities.

As per your requests I agree to be a champion for the rights of all people with learning disabilities, including people from minority ethnic communities and with high support needs.

1 I agree to fighting to reform social care so it meets the rights of people with learning disabilities and their families and provides fair pay for social care workers.

2. I will work to provide effective, reasonably adjusted health services that contribute to better health and raising life expectancy for people with learning disabilities

3. I will help people with learning disabilities get the jobs they want, supported by a system that recognises contributions not forcing poverty.

4. I will campaign to make sure people with learning disabilities have the same access to housing options as their nondisabled peers.

5. I am running a campaign which I hope will be as inclusive as possible, my disabilities make evening events very difficult and I have so far agreed to attend 3 hustings; I will be at St Margaret’s Church in Rainham tomorrow evening, on Monday I will be at the KMTV hustings at the Gillingham Greenwich University Campus and next Thursday I will be at St Mark’s Church in Gillingham.
