Learning Disability Annual Health Check

Disability Medway Network wants to raise awareness about the Learning Disability Annual Health Check.

If you are 14 years old or older and have a learning disability you are eligible for annual health checks. Just make sure you are on your GP’s learning disability register.

An annual health check means having your health checked 1 time every year. Going to your doctor for a health check every year is a really good way for your doctor or a nurse to check your health and make sure you stay fit and healthy. It is a good idea to have a health check 1 time every year. (Click on the link below to see an easy read leaflet on What happens at a health check.) 👇

“It is really sad that people with a learning disability are more likely to suffer bad physical and mental health and will likely die younger than other people.

But if we work together, we can do something about it. All young people aged 14 or over and adults with a learning disability are entitled to a full health check every year, but so many miss out.”
